Cold Vitality Version 2 – How to make a good Smoothie better!
This fantastic smoothie recipe is based on the original Cold Vitality Recipe. The old recipe had a SmoothFuel Nutritional Score of 64. It contained a simple collection of 4 ingredients: Fat Free Ice Cream, Apricots, Peaches and Soy Milk. It was a good recipe, it had a decent number of vitamins and contained antioxidants and polyphenols but I have always felt it could be that little bit better. So with a few tweaks and the addition of two new ingredients we have the Cold Vitality Version 2.
Info about Cold Vitality Version 2
Ground Cloves are a powerful addition to this smoothie. They contain incredibly high amounts of antioxidants and polyphenols (one gram contains the same amount of antioxidants as 125 grams of apricots).
Version 2 of Cold Vitality contains a much more balanced macro nutrient profile. Thanks to the addition of hemp seeds and pumpkin seeds we have increased the total amount of fat and protein without adding in lots of extra carbohydrates. In addition to a much more improved macro nutrient profile Cold Vitality Version 2 has an even stronger vitamin and mineral profile. It has 28% or more of your RDI of most major minerals. It has significant amounts of many vitamins with its only downfall being a low amount of vitamin K (8% RDI).
As with my advice in the original version, be careful to choose the right type of ice cream. Be careful about Ice Creams with lots of added sugar. Thanks to the latest nutrition article about saturated fat I learned that we shouldn’t see it as something to avoid at all costs but perhaps view it with a more neutral perspective. So don’t get too worried if you see a small amount of saturated fat.
